The Fishing Adventure

My fish got off my rod and snapped it.

I caught a fish.

I nearly caught a fish but it got off.

My line got snagged.

 

Hunting for bugs.

This week we have been learning and writing about bugs that live in the garden.

We went exploring for bugs in our gardens at school.

We took magnifying glasses so that we could see them closer or if they were really little.

We didn't find many today.

We found a stink beetle, a spider and a snail.

Our School Garden

 We went down to the garden.  We saw orange trees, mandarin trees and parsley.

We saw flowers and we saw bees.

We went into a shed.  It was warm.  We think it is warm to help the plants grow.

Our Recycling Centre

We went to the worm farm and recycling shed.

We saw rubbish.

We saw things in the wrong rubbish bins.

It was stinky.  There were 2 stinky bins.

There was cardboard, paper and apples in the worm farm.

There was plastic in one of the bins.

RUBBISH!

 We are learning about rubbish and recycling.

We went for a walk in the senior playground to see what we could find that should NOT be there in 5 minutes.

We found

11 socks

4 shoes

1 dress

 1 jumper

19 pieces of plastic

1 apple

1 drink can

1 paper straw

1 paper towel roll

1 paint cloth

2 pencils

1 bottle lid

We sorted the rubbish and talked about where some of these things should have been instead of in our playground!

Pepeha

 We are learning our pepeha.

We are learning that our pepeha introduces us to other people so that they know who we are connected to and where we come from.

Trip to the Fire Station

Today we went on a trip to the Mangonui Fire Station.
Our bus was late.
We had lots of fun.  We have have been learning how to be fire-wise.
We saw the fire fighter all dressed up.
We squirted the firehose.
We rode in the fire engine.
WE HAD SO MUCH FUN!!!

Teen Numbers

We are learning to understand 'teen' numbers.
We are learning that 'teen' means ten.Teen numbers have 10 and some more.

11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19

We made bundles of ten ice block sticks and then got some more to make different 'teen numbers'
